Chen Drachman is an actress, singer and a producer at the beginning of her career. She was 7 years old when she first got on stage and she didn’t stop ever since. Drachman grew up in Holon and graduated from “Eylon High school” in the city, where she was a cinema major. She served in the army and took part in an acting course at the “Nissan Nativ” school of acting. In 2008 she moved to New York to study acting and singing at the “American Musical and Dramatic Academy” (AMDA). Since graduation, which was a few months ago, Drachman managed to take part in an all original material cabaret, an Off – Broadway production of “Lysistrata”, a few student films, and an indie webseries which she wrote and produced on her own, called  “Hit the MARC”, which is based on the experiences from a performing arts school.

What brought me here is…

The understanding that artistically, I have to be here in order to create, and I have to study here in order to start from scratch in the local industry and build myself step by step.

For me, New York is…

A husband, a wife, a nanny, an amazing love story, home no. 2, a place that triggers my process of creating in a way which surprises even me by being so eternal.

I can’t do without…

Having something to do at any given moment.  If I have a day off, I feel guilty for neglecting something. Especially when it comes to writing and creating. Other than that, unfortunately, ice cream and pizza.

Home for me is…

In Israel it’s to drive by the Holon Junction at night and know that I’ll be home shortly. That, and my family. Here it’s to get into bed after a day of doing a show/shooting a film/auditioning and talk to my roommate about the day that we had.

In a year from now, I’ll be…

Hopefully still here. Still shooting my webseries, and maybe having a little break through into the local screen industry with a series or a movie.

I get excited the most about…

My friends’ success. Really.  And about small things, like walking after dark and see a nice building, or when it hits me where I’m living and what I’m doing. Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge towards Manhattan always makes me happy beyond words.

I’d like to sit for a cup of coffee with…

Joss Whedon, Lady Gaga, Tina fey, you know, people who are actually still alive so there’s a chance it might actually happen one day.

If I had all the money in the world I would…

Buy my parents a house around here somewhere so they’d be able to visit every other day. Do an around the world trip, hire someone to make sure I don’t fall when I’m walking down the street texting, and giving a legit budget to every production I take part in.
