But I’m a Shoe

Hello friends,

It’s been a minute.

Partially because a lot of the work is being done behind the scenes.

But The Book of Ruth won Best Short Dramedy at the wonderful Sedona International Film Festivaland we have a few more festivals before we conclude a terrific, award winning festival run for which I’m incredibly grateful.

But I’m also hard at work on two new projects that I’m very excited about, one of the two is But I’m a Shoe, a short script for a would-be animated short.

Very very happy to say that the script got accepted into the screenplay competition at one of my favorite film festivals – Deep in the Heart, in Waco, TX, where The Book of Ruth won Best Family Short last year.

I’m thrilled to head back to DITHFF to share this script with an audience for the first time, by way of a live reading. Details to follow, but what a great place to “premiere” it!

Stay tuned!

Best Family Short at DITHFF *** UK Premiere

Hello everyone! I hope you’re having a joyful and safe summer!

I’m thrilled to announce that The Book of Ruth has won the Best Family Short Jury Award at the Deep in the Heart Film Festival.

I was in Texas for what was a wonderful festival, adopted by a lovely community of filmmakers and people who are passionate about art and creativity, and we were very humbled by the win and by the fact that the film was welcomed with open arms and so much love.

I got to give an acceptance speech for the first time ever, so it was very unplanned. Nonetheless, here it is:

If you’re in Texas, you can still watch the film online through 7/31 right here.

The virtual edition of the festival also included a Q&A with multiple filmmakers and I was glad I got to take a part in that. You can watch it here.

I’m also thrilled to announce The Book of Ruth will be making its UK premiere in September at the Exit 6 Film Festival.

The event will be mostly virtual but there will be one physical day and we’ll make sure to have representatives there!

Excited to finally make it across the pond and can’t wait to share the film with our friends in the UK!

Upcoming IN PERSON screenings!

Hello all!

The world is slowly getting back to normal and film festivals are finally taking place in person again!

JDIFF was such a wonderful experience, but there’s more ahead!

Most importantly, next week The Book of Ruth will be screening IN PERSON at the Queens World Film Festival right here in NY! We never had the chance to have a physical premiere for our friends here in our city, so this is really exciting. If you attend, please come and say hi!

So far, we’ve been accepted to a total of 29 festivals in the U.S. and abroad. Details for more upcoming screenings, both online and in person, can be found here. Some of these also include Q&As. We hope to see you at one of these events 🙂

Have a lovely Father’s Day!

Julien Dubuque International Film Festival

The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival was a joy. Incredible festival, incredible people.

Here’s a small selection from 6 days of watching great art (both on screen and on the streets) and meeting great folks.

We held 2 screenings of The Book of Ruth that were followed by a Q&A with the audience. You can watch one here.

I was also fortunate enough to be a part of a Women in Film – Making a difference panel. You can see a partial cut from the panel below.
