Ruth’s Fundraising campaign!
Hey guys!
Really excited to announce that we’re working towards the production of my short script Ruth’s.
This project holds a very special place in my heart, and while we launched our albeit very limited fundraising campaign, I think it’s time I finally tell you what the script, which has been an official selection at the Back in the Box competition and is currently nominated at the NYC Indie File Fest, is about.
Ruth’s follows a family’s visit at the grandmother’s house on the night of the Seder. Later that night the granddaughter catches her grandma, Ruth, watching a news story about recently discovered facts of Anne Frank’s death, and confronts her about something she’d suspected for years – her grandma is Anne Frank.
The story is fictional, of course, but the news story mentioned in it is actually real and inspired the script. It’s based on the results of an official study, released by the Anne Frank House on April 2015.
Since I also get to play one of that characters in the film, I’m even more excited.
We were lucky enough to become fiscally sponsored by From the Heart Productions in LA, which makes this project a non-profit. All donations to our campaign are tax-deductible and if you donate, you become an executive producer!
This is a SAG short film, low budget. For you indie lovers, not sure it gets more indie than that!
We’re also aiming to have a crew that is as female dominated as possible, though our brilliant Director of Photography is an extremely talented guy. This is just because we know how hard it is in today’s industry for women to get good opportunities.
If you care to participate, know that any amount will help tremendously!
Check out our campaign here, on the From the Heart Productions website, in collaboration with Network for good.
I will be sure to update as we move forward!
Thank you and happy spring!
